About Me: I could talk to a brick wall! Maybe that's why I felt Communications was a natural degree choice for me. I have two kids and a husband who sometimes is my third child. He's great but keeps house equal to most teenage boys. He works hard and is a great dad so we'll let the rest slide. I like being competitive on anything...cards,bowling, whatever the case I like to win. I'm not a sore loser though, I just have more fun winning, and I do NOT cheat. Cheaters really urk me! I'm a roaring LEO and yes I fit my sign pretty well. I try and remind myself I'm a Leo and to not be too obnoxious. If I had to choose between Rich or Famous I would choose famous, but not seeing that in my future so I'll just be happy with me. I'm also very honest, I took shoes back to Target that I wasn't charged for honest.
Music: I've never had a car with a bad stereo b/c its one of the first things I check. So what there's green ooze coming out the bottom and black smoke out the back...the radio sounds great. Okay so I'm not really that bad. Depends on my mood, but I think if you saw me my taste may surprise you. I'm the mom who has to turn down hip hop or some really rockin song so I can drop my child off at school and not get too many glares. I luv it all...Rock, Hip Hop, Country, just depends on my mood. I love angry chick rock like Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette, Fly Leaf and that sort of stuff because it makes feel tough :P On the flip side I love Jewel, Sarah Mc, Rob Thomas (my next hubby), Ben Harper, and Jack Johnson. I also like Hinder, Nickelback,Fray, 3 Doors Down, Evanescence, 50 Cent, Nelly, Snoop Dogg (old and new stuff), Dixie Chicks, Faith Hill and Martina McBride...the list is endless.
Movies: I'm so not the type to watch the same movie over and over. It has to be years in between to keep my attention. Even if I have forgotten the ending just because I know I've seen it I can't stand to watch it again. A few I can watch like every 5 years are Hope Floats, 16 Candles, I dunno don't feel like wasting me time thinking of them even.
TV: Lovin' the new show Cashmere Mafia! Like watching the Rescue Me series on DVD, only once though I rarely watch anything twice. Sometimes I get a little wrapped up in the current reality shows, but really I'm trying to avoid some of my tv addictions this year.
Books: Mostly just magazines, Redbook, Marie Claire, Glamour, etc.
Likes: my family, Nik's hugs, Libby's smiles, my house (because its home), I Heart NYC, Sweets...Braum's Chocolate Ice Cream, Sno Cones, Pina Coladas, warm sunny days, laying out by a pool, taking trips, watching people and trying to figure them out, new adventures, new clothes, learning something new, meeting people with completely different experiences or histories, a fun night out, funny people
Dislikes: Lying, hypocrits, people who always get ahead though they never do anything to earn it, wow I sound bitter! Getting out of bed in the morning, a dirty car, being broke, failing, close minded people, poopy diapers, I would say dogs but I know I would get hate mail! I don't dislike them I just don't really like them either. I would NEVER harm one though, and I realize to many they're = to kids.
Hobbies: Between work and family I don't have a lot of time for hobbies. I have a guitar that's never had a real song played on it and a nice set of golf clubs that have barely been used. I like doing creative things and love making storybooks. Check out www.sweeteststories.com for more on that.
Vices: I don't smoke and rarely drink so ice cream!
Virtues: Honest, Kind (atleast to your face, LOL)
Heroes: My mom. She died from cancer a few years ago and even at her worst she was still better than many at their best. I think during the bad times are when you really find out what people are made of.

    My Glass if Half FULL!!

Wednesday, March 26, 2008, 01:33 PM CST [General]

Have you ever tried to find something positive in every situation? It can be so hard at times, yet when you make it a way of thinking, it can be very rewarding. Maybe its because spring has sprung, and the sun replenishes my seratonin levels, but I have just been in an incredible mood, and feel so blessed in my life.

My sister in law and brother have both been big fans of the book 'The Secret' this past year, and both have seen wonderful things happening in their lives. The biggest secret of the book is the power of being positive! Evaluate your words and attitude, are you adding stress to someone else's day complaining, or are you uplifting to those around you? I hope the latter. Your attitude affects you in so many ways, even when you're unaware.

So I guess my challenge to you is to find the positive things in life (big or small) and see if it gets you out of your rut you may be stuck in. Don't even begin to think I'm must not have real issues, because that is certainly not the case. I have faced more challenges than many people ever have to handle yet I have also had many blessings and life to me is a wonderful experience. I wish the same for you! Also don't think I'm always perfectly positive, I often remind myself to find a new way to think through a situation. Maybe try a new motivating book, a new cd full of fun vibrant music, a day of sitting in the grass and staring at the sky, do something creative, whatever helps you to find your calm and joy...do it! Life is precious... appreciate it and don't waste it!

    HAPPY SPRING!

    Yards...seriously?!

Thursday, January 31, 2008, 08:57 PM CST [General]

So I'm officially old! I now notice yards and have turned into the gripey neighbor when things aren't pretty and peaceful. Actually I'm not gripey or my neighbor would never hear the end of it! So here's my deep or not so deep thought....if your yard looks better in the winter with dead grass than in summer with green grass...you need to take better care of it! I mean would you rather see short dead grass than knee deep green grass? I would. Actually I would like to see well manicured green grass, but I've noticed some yards that are usually kind of sucky looking better lately, and then I realized because the grass is dead. Dead you think its not their choice its winter so I guess you can live with the ugly stuff more easily. Wow, I guess life is going really well for me right now if my biggest complaint or deepest thought is about grass...and I'm of course mean the legal kind!!

    Peace!

    Accountable

Wednesday, January 2, 2008, 05:59 PM CST [General]

That's the word of the year for me. I have had several deep thoughts about life and people and such this past year, and the thing that kept coming up was being accountable for you own actions, destiny, life, etc! I'm tired of hearing people complain about things not going their way, or their life sucking, or hating their job....my new answer is change it. No one is in control of your life except yourself, and when you continue to blame everyone and everything else for all that wrong you stay in a miserable rut! So with the new year, take hold of your life, and make things happen. Hold your self ACCOUNTABLE for the things not going your way, and see if there is a way to change it. Sure, some things happen in life that you obviously can not change, but you can control how you react. Believe me, life has not been a bowl of cherries for me pretty much since I became an adult, but I love it anyway. I love everyday, even the sucky ones because atleast I'm here to enjoy them!  I have much to be grateful for, and a few things I need to hold myself accountable for such as my out of shape body, and poor time management lifestyle, but all in all life is Great! I challenge you the next time something is out of whack to look at yourself and see what you could have done differently before blaming everything on everyone else.

    Happy '08!
